Compassion from Personal Experience
My passion for supporting caregivers and families living with dementia comes from a very personal place. Both of my grandmothers had Alzheimer’s disease, and I witnessed firsthand the deep impact it had—not only on them but on our entire family. I saw the emotional heartache, the physical exhaustion, and the financial challenges that come with caring for someone living with dementia.
My Paternal Grandmother and Aunt Sue
This photo is a reminder of the strength and devotion within our family as we supported my grandmother and one another through the challenges of dementia care. Capturing moments like these are priceless because it reminds us that amidst struggles and heartache, there is still love and joy.
Four Generations with My Maternal Grandmother
This cherished photo of my grandmother, mother, daughter, and I together at the senior community where she spent the last 2 years of her life shows how dementia reaches beyond one individual—it touches children, parents, and even grandchildren. It represents both the beauty of family bonds and the weight of caregiving across generations. Our family made sure that my grandmother was included and valued as an important part of our family until the day she passed.
My Cousin and “Her Gigi”
This special picture captures the love, resilience, and dedication of caregivers. For me, it’s a powerful reminder that caregiving is not only about responsibility—it’s about love, presence, and honoring the person behind the disease. No matter what stage of the disease my grandmother was in, family made it a point to not only gather weekly at her favorite diner but also to include her in regular family gatherings and outings. This allowed even her youngest great grandchildren at the time, like Colbie at 2 years old, to have fond memories of her “Gigi” for the years to come.
These personal experiences shaped me. They gave me a deep understanding of the struggles caregivers face and inspired me to dedicate my work to helping others navigate this journey with more support, knowledge, and compassion. Through Dementia Care Solutions, I provide education, support, resources, and guidance to families, caregivers, and professionals. My goal is to ease the burden, reduce the stress, and help create better outcomes for both caregivers and the people they care for. I believe that with the right tools, strategies, and understanding, caregivers can feel empowered rather than overwhelmed. Dementia care does not have to be a journey walked alone—I am here to walk it with you.
